George was born and raised in Joliet, Illinois. Where he attended Joliet West High School, after graduating in 1967, he joined the USAF where he was a Helicopter mechanic, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 and the Panama Canal Zone from 1972 to 1973. While in Panama he was deployed on many search and rescue missions in the jungles of South America.

After leaving the military George wanted to continue to make a difference in people’s lives and chose the noble profession of a law enforcement officer. He started his career at the Indialantic Police Department where he spent 3 years and rose to the position of Sergeant. He continued to sharpen his skills the next 3 years with Cocoa Police Department. George chose to further his education and graduated in 1979 with an AA and an AS in Criminal Justice from Brevard Community College. Upon graduation he was hired by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Law enforcement was his true calling and he loved being a

Sheriff’s deputy. In his first year with the Sheriff’s Office he was picked as Officer of the Year.

As much as he loved his law enforcement family. The true love of his life was his family. He was the love of his wife Cherie’s life. As she was for him. His children were everything to him. To give them a good life he sometimes worked two and three jobs. But even working so much he always tried to be there for all of their moments.

If there was ever anyone that needed a place to live, food to eat or clothes to wear. He was there with a helping hand, a open heart, and an open home. He and Cherie took in 17 children through the years and loved every minute.

His grandchildren have lived with him and his wife off and on all of their lives and he treasured every moment. Especially holding the babies. He was a great baby cuddler and his grandchildren adored him.

George was an avid sportsman and loved to golf. Up until the past few years he played as much as possible. He also played in and organized many charity tournaments. But to him all of this was just who he was. He wanted to help any and everyone he came in contact with. George is greatly missed by all of his family and friends. We send love to you Commander, Husband, Daddy, Papa, Uncle.

George is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cherie …Daughter, Colleen , Sean and six grandchildren…Madeline, Elizabeth, Manny, Emerson, Georgia and Nyah.
