George Mourer Sherman Jr., age 65, passed away on the morning of June 10, 2013. He was born in Biloxi, MS, on May 19, 1948. After graduating high school in Biloxi, he traveled the world for many years working in the petrochemical industry. Later, George became a prolific businessman, owning businesses in TX, MS, and FL. George had a zest for life and lived his life to the fullest. He moved to Defuniak Springs, FL to be close to his children and enjoy the area’s great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and was always ready to try his luck at catching the big one. His health had been in decline for the past few years which left him confined to a wheelchair but his spirit was as strong as ever. His last few days were spent with his family surrounding him and his passing was peaceful with his wife at his side.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Irma Yolanda Sherman; his mother Ursula Montgomery Sherman of Ocean Springs, MS; 2 sons and their wives; Alvin and Rebecca Sherman of Bay Minette, AL and Henry and Cabrini Sherman of Fort Walton Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren; Victoria Tompkins, John Michael Gonzales, Alexander Sherman, Julia Sherman, Sage Delfino, Kathryn Sherman, Brooke Sherman, and Landon Sherman; 3 siblings and their spouses; Billy and Doris Sherman of Ocean Springs, MS, Cathy and Tracy Burdine of Biloxi, MS, and Scott and Michelle Sherman of Biloxi, MS; and many other loving nieces, nephews, and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, George Mourer Sherman, Sr.
