George M. Scherr, 72, of Washington passed away at 6:10 am on Monday, October 13, 2014 at his residence. He was born on September 8, 1942 in rural Fairbury, Illinois to Earl F. and Anita N. (Dart) Scherr. He married Lois E. Hodel on December 27, 1964 in Chenoa, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are three children Douglas (Barb) Scherr of Washington, David Scherr of Peoria and Deborah (Shawn) McVey of Normal; 3 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; a soon-to-be great-granddaughter; brother Charles “Leroy” (Diane) Scherr of Downs, IL; two sisters Betty Hostetter of Chenoa, IL and Doris (Allen) Reiners of Odell, IL; and two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Chad Hostetter.
George was a 1960 Fairbury/Cropsey high school graduate. He served in the U.S. Army Corps Engineers in Vietnam War from 1964 ? 1966.
