George Louis Oliver, 73, of Newnan died Friday, April 8, 2011 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital from complications of cancer and heart failure. He was born February 16, 1938 in Atlanta to the late James Raymond Oliver and Louise Norton Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, sister Marion Oliver Banks. Mr. Oliver was an Atlanta native who grew up in the Ben Hill area and graduated from Russell High School and attended Georgia State University. He was a life insurance agent for Life of Georgia and Prudential Insurance. He was a Master Mason and member of the East Point Masonic Lodge F&AM #288 and a Shriner at Yaraab Shrine Temple of Atlanta where he served on the Directors Staff. After moving to Newnan in 1996 he became of member of Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church in Sharpsburg. Survivors include wife of 53 years, Sandra Wilborn Oliver; daughter, Sherrie Kemmerer & her husband Jeff; grandson, Spencer Kemmerer; brother, Jack Oliver & his wife Carolyn; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
