George Leon Martin, 72, of Bryans Road, MD died August 20, 2015 in La Plata, MD.
Born June 17, 1943, in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late George Martin and the late Evelyn Kreamer.
Mr. Martin went to high school in Reading, PA and was educated at College of Southern Maryland. He was in the U.S. Air Force and specialized in Technical Specialties in Lanham, MD. He was a Senior Golf Pro, caddied for former President Ford, was Champ at Andrews AFB in 2012 and retired after 23 years in the Air Force.
He enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing with his grandchildren, NASCAR racing, playing with stray kittens and Scratch Offs. He loved life to the fullest. He was a very giving and caring person. He also was very competive in golf. His favorite Bible verse was the Lord’s Prayer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Martin. He survived by his wife, Donna King Martin, whom he married April 6, 1963; siblings, Mary Lou Balmer, Frankie Martin, Jeanne Boyer, Tina Zook, Judy Messer, Cathy Blimline and Jean Shenk, all of Pennsylvania; daughter, Debbie Izes; sons, George (Butch) S. Martin and Gary Lee Martin; and grandchildren, Niki Izes, Kyle Martin and George W. Martin.
