George Junior Sims 83, of Jacksonville, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Passavant Area Hospital.
He was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Jacksonville, the son of Artie and Mary Sims. He married Genevieve Miller on March 5, 1972, in Jacksonville and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Cecil (Audrey) Sims of Seattle, WA and George (Toi) Haley of Bell, TN; three step-children, Aaron (Emma) Haley and Rodney Haley, both of Jacksonville and Bydia Haley of Seattle; ten grandchildren, Justin, Krysda, Brianna and C’eary Sims, and Tamika Zenke, Travis Haley, Ashton Haley (companion Courtney Thomas), LaToya Haley, LaKrysta (Tesean) Bond and Katondra Haley; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Sims; one step-son, Isaac Haley, and two brothers, Bob Smith and Chauncey Sims.
Mr. Sims was a retired laborer and worked construction for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the AMVETS and a Past Commander of the Moss-Walton American Legion. George loved fishing.
