George J. Bratz, Sr., age 87, of DeMotte, IN passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Aperion Care Center of Roselawn. George was born in Lafayette, Indiana on February 21, 1934 to Clarence and Esther (Bazler) Bratz. He graduated from Jefferson High School, Lafayette, Class of 1952. George enlisted in the United States Marines during the Korean War. On July 18, 1975 he married Caroline J. Morrison who preceded him in death on June 16, 2008. George took early retirement after 35 years as an engineer/conductor with Arcelor Mittel. He was affiliated with Community Christian Reformed Church and a member of the DeMotte American Legion. George loved to gamble, play BINGO, woodworking, vacations, and watching sports. George is survived by his children: Michael Bratz of Francesville, IN, Jill Isaily of DeMotte, IN; Randall Bratz of Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren: Camryn, Declan, Bronson, and Chloe. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Caroline Bratz; son, William J. “BJ” Waldsmith; and sisters, Joy & Phyllis.
