George Duane Jackson, the son of Myrtle (Tietjen) and Lester L. Jackson, was born on the farm south of Riverton, Nebraska May 17, 1946. He departed this life peacefully and surrounded by his family at his home south of Riverton on March 30, 2022 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 13 days.

A lifelong resident of Franklin county, George received his formal education attending rural schools, Franklin grade school and graduated from the Riverton High School in 1964 as the class valedictorian. George then began farming with his dad in the Riverton area.

On November 19, 1977, he was united in marriage with Caroline Lammers at the Congregational Church in Riverton. George lovingly became the father of Caroline’s two children, Carrie and Tim, and the union was additionally blessed with two more girls, Mary and Sheryl. They made their home south of Campbell until 1982, then moved to their home south of Riverton where he continued to farm and ran a dairy operation. George was employed for a number of years with Western Land Roller in Hastings.  Through the years he served his community in a number of capacities including the Washington Township board, the Riverton Fire Board and the Franklin Zoning and Planning Board.

George always possessed a lifelong love for farming and working with the land and livestock. He always looked forward to working with the tractor and four-wheelers. In his leisure time he was also excellent at baking and making cookies. His greatest love and enthusiasm in life was for his family and he especially cherished the time they spent together.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Joyce Lucht and Carolyn Jackson, and his brother, Gene Jackson.

Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Caroline Jackson; his children and grandchildren: Carrie Haussermann and husband, Steven, and children McKenna and Grant; Tim Jackson and children Agustus and Tiffani; Mary Hunt and children McClain and Matheson; and Sheryle Edgar and husband, Brent, and children Ely, Conner and Colton. Also surviving are his sister, Marge Rose and husband, Les; a brother, Mike Jackson and wife, Candy; sisters-in-law, Kathy Lammers and Beverly Jackson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and his many friend

A memorial fund has been established by the family for later designation.
