George W. Hill, Jr., 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018.

He was born on March 1, 1931 in St. Anthony, Idaho, to George and Mabel Whittaker Hill. He had four older half siblings and one younger brother. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from South Fremont High School.

As a child and young adult, George worked with his father and brothers as a rancher, herding sheep and cattle across Idaho and Wyoming. After his mother’s death, the ranching business was sold. He then operated the Hill-Frome Motor Company in Ashton, Idaho. In 1963, he moved to Idaho Falls and became a journeyman pipefitter. He was a lifetime member of UA Local 648.

On July 28, 1950, George married his lifetime sweetheart, Janiece Frome Hill. They shared over 50 years of marriage before she passed.

George was an avid golfer and built custom golf clubs for his friends and family. In 2002 at Sand Creek Golf Course, he finally nailed a hole-in-one. George enjoyed watching birds at his backyard feeder, going out to eat with his friends, completing Sudoku puzzles, being a member of the local Eagles Lodge, feeding butterscotch candies to Andy, his miniature Schnauzer, and working on his elaborate model train set.
