George was born on November 12, 1916 in Manhattan, New York, to Ernest and Hilda Stuchbery. His parent’s moved from New York to Santa Barbra California in 1919 and then moved to Los Angeles in 1920 where his father attended seminary school. George finished high school in Los Angeles and was a member of the track team. He loved to tell the story of running a race in the Los Angeles Coliseum. After high school he completed an apprenticeship in printing, finishing in 1937.
George lost his wife of 52 years, Gladys, in September 1991; daughter Linda in 1961; daughter Beverly in 1991. Though this sudden loss was tragic, George’s love and faith in the Lord was a constant source of strength for his grand daughters. In 1993 he met his second wife Edith and was blessed with her two sons Rick and Eric and daughter Victoria and their families. George always said God blessed him with two great wives and families which he loved and enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Bill, his wives, Gladys and Edith, his daughters Beverly and Linda, a niece Marlene and a great granddaughter Jessica.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Jami and her partner Vicki, Cindy and her husband Doug, Dani (Odie) and her husband Glen, Barney and his wife Melanie, Kim and her husband Carl, Edie’s children Victoria, Rick and his wife Rita and Eric and his wife Linda, a nephew Bill and his wife Barbara, and his many great grand children.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Cottages of Middleton and Horizon Home Health and Hospice for their constant and loving care of our Gramps.
