George Harkovich, 85, of Boise, passed away January 31, 2017. He was born April 2, 1931, in Scranton, PA. to John and Mary Harkovich.

George graduated from Scranton High School in 1950. As soon as he finished high school, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy, he spent time in Korea and went on two tours during the Vietnam War.

George married Betty Brown Moncarr in Reno, NV on June 14, 1969. George and Betty loved to travel together.

George was an avid bowler. During his time in the Navy, he would bowl in each city that he was stationed in. He also belonged to the Men’s National Bowling Association. He was also a member of the Boise Bowling Association and bowled in two Senior Citizen Leagues. He was also a great fisherman. For much of his retirement, he and Betty parked their RV in Donnelly and fished, played cards, hunted mushrooms and enjoyed their time with friends at the RV park.

George is preceded in death by his loving wife Betty, his parents, Maria and John, his two sisters Anna and Mary and his brothers John and Mike and sister-in-law Lucy and his niece Anna.

George is survived by his sister Helen Hutsko (Delaware), nieces Debbie Harkovich (Idaho), Cindy and husband John (Delaware), Joanne and husband Tim (Delaware)and nephew John and wife Shelly(Washington). He is also survived by his step-daughter Kris and husband Jerry, sister-in-law’s Jean Patrick and Ruby Eastman (Idaho).
