George H. Whitehurst, age 88, of Crestview passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014. He was born in Greenwood, FL on July 28, 1926, to George H. and Ethel Whitehurst. He is a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Florida State University where he was a part of the Flying High Circus and performed on the flying trapeze. George served his country in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945 as a hospital corpsman and operating room technician. In 1950 he graduated from Indiana College of Mortuary Science.
George was preceded in death by his son George H. “Sonny” Whitehurst, III, his parents, one brother and 5 sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annelle Whitehurst, daughters: Angela Freeman and husband Chuck, Ann McGraw and husband Billy, grandchildren: Brooke Bozeman, Wesley Freeman, Rebecca Joseph and husband Tyler, Ryan Berry and wife Krista, Hanna Carroll and husband Cody.
