George H. Klieber Jr., 85, of Utica, passed away Friday morning, January 5, 2018, at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. Mr. Klieber was born April 18, 1932 in Oglesby to George H. and Louise (Topolski) Klieber.

He was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.  He married Carol J. Lamboley in 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru. Mr. Klieber was employed as site superintendent at Matthiessen State Park.  He was involved in Boy Scouts for many years and enjoyed woodworking, carving, and anything outdoors, including hiking and camping.

Survivors include one daughter, Georgia (Anthony) Kulis of Oglesby; three sons, Henry (Cynthia) Klieber of Oglesby, Mark Klieber of Exeter, RI, and Tim (Marci) Klieber of Coal Valley; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Janice) Klieber of Ladd and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol on November 23, 2008, and two sisters, Georgine Koster and Dorothy Bassetti.
