George Fekete, 88 of Orange, died peacefully at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on December 17, 2010.  Born on February 1, 1922 in NuMine, PA to Michael and Susan Fekete, he was one of their ten children and the husband of the late Mina Rauth who preceded him in death in 2007.  He was a devoted husband and the beloved father to Susann Fekete of Orange, and Denise Fekete of Milford.  Also surviving are his two very special granddaughters, Katelyn and Kassandra.

Mr. Fekete retired from Sikorsky Aircraft in 1986.  He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors; and in particular his skills and talent as a gardener.  Whether it had been in Huntington Park, California or back in Connecticut in Monroe, Shelton or Orange, his properties were always prized showcases.  Mr. Fekete is also survived by brothers, Andrew Fekete (Marie) of Monroe, Frederick of Montana, sister Elizabeth (Betty) of Massachusetts and a brother-in-law Art Sheehan also of Monroe, along with a host of nieces and nephews who always demonstrated their affection for “Uncle George”.  He was predeceased by brothers Michael, Joseph and John, and sisters Mary Madden, Peggy Lutostanski and Kaye Sheehan.

The family wishes to acknowledge in particular his loving and compassionate caregiver, Anna Brown; the staff of the Connecticut Hospice and the Milford Health Care Center, and especially their nurse Lynn O’Connell and social worker Fiona Nicholson.
