He is survived by brothers Gordon and Douglas Griswold as well as his children and their spouses: Warren Griswold, Steve Bardino, Pennie Zucco (Gregg Morrison), Scott & Holly Griswold, Mark & Heidi Parsons and Kathy & Tim Nalette; his grandchildren Erica & Vanessa Morrison, Natalie & Olivia Zucco, Corey Tucker, Jeriah, Shannon, Angelina & Mackenzie Griswold, Shelby, Trevor & Sierra Griswold, Jakob Parsons, Sam Martinsen, Clarissa Rice, Niki Nash, Eric & Kevin Flynn, Robbie Parsons, Rachel Romero, Esther (Romero) Schwarm; many nieces and nephews including a special niece and her husband Bonnie and Dennis Pedersen as well as many great grandchildren including Jayden & Kullen Griswold. He was predeceased by his pillar in life, wife Mary Griswold, parents John and Mary (Inches) Griswold, Brothers Malcolm, Marshall, Harper Griswold, sons Bruce and Roberts Parsons and a grandson Justin Tucker.
George met and married his wife Mary in August of 1960, where they built their homestead. He was an Army veteran, where he served in Germany. He was a dedicated employee of the State of CT DOT for 30 plus years, worked multiple jobs because he always had to keep himself busy, and an All-American Hero to his family.
His main priority in his life was his family. One of his fondest memories was the two month summer camping vacation traveling the country with his family of nine. He made many friends throughout his life. Always offering advice on anything, lending a hand when asked, just a phone call away whether rototilling gardens, helping fix cars, taking down trees, just a handyman of all trades.
George was a member of the Winchester Volunteer Fire Department for twenty plus years and reached the rank of Deputy Chief. After retirement, from the State of CT., he worked for Seitz Corporation for ten years and became lifelong friends with the Seitz families.
George enjoyed having his family, friends and grandchildren stopping by to visit, sitting in his man cave sharing memories of his life and offering spirits to anyone who wanted to join him. He loved watching the Red Sox, and any football team that was beating the Dallas Cowboys, his wife’s favorite team.
