George “Bob” Edward Garner, Jr., the son of the late George

Edward Garner, Sr. and Dorathyrene Garner, was called home on

September 21st, 2023 after a long illness, surrounded by loved

ones at home. George was born on February 21st, 1948 in

Arlington, Virginia.

He attended and graduated from Wakefield High School. He

worked as an office manager for many law firms and later retired

from Red Top Cab Company. He was a member at Macedonia

Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia.

He met Sharon Pollard in November 1980 and they were united in

holy matrimony on October 4th, 1991. Their Blessed union lasted

for 32 years.

George was an avid golf player, he played in golf tournaments

from Virginia all the way to Florida and called everyone he met

“pro”, whether they played the sport or not. He had two very

special friends, the late James “Jimmie” Ross (Debra) and James

Terry (Jenny), who he attended tournaments with often. When he

wasn’t playing golf, he was a conversationalist, he never met a

stranger, he would talk to everyone he passed by. He was always

available to listen, give advice or help his friends and family in any

way he could. George loved to tell jokes and make you laugh,

even if you didn’t get the punchline.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Sharon J.

Garner, two sons, Stephen J., Darneigh T. (Alicia), and daughter,

Brenda Garner.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Althea E. Spencer, and

survived by his two brothers, Eugene A., and Donnell S. Garner,

and five sisters, Doris J. Bonner, Beverly A., Shelia M., Carletta

D., and Contessa Y. Garner. Five grandchildren, Monai, Qalaia,

Synasia, Zeon, and Isaiah, a host of other cousins, nieces,

nephews, relatives, and friends.
