George E. Litke, Jr., 74, of Plainville, passed away at his home on Saturday November 5, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Gale (Monsees) Litke for 55 years. George was born on August 8, 1937, to the late George E., Sr. and Jennie (Bienas) Litke.
George was a lifelong Plainville resident and after serving his country in the United States Army, he proudly joined the Plainville Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1983. He then went on to work for the New Britain Juvenile Court as Marshal. George was a man of great integrity, who loved his family and friends unconditionally.
Along with his wife Gale, George leaves his 5 children Loriann Venditti and her husband Josef of Terryville; Susan Williams and her husband Christopher of Harwinton; Lisa Fischer of Plainville; Steven Litke and Margaret Byrne of Plainville; and Jennifer Bennett and her husband Mark of Farmington, 9 grandchildren Kim, Becky, Lee, Gale, Eric, Mack, Brett, Carlie and Sarah; 3 great grandchildren Mariah, Abigail and Alexis and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sisters-in-law Grace Lassy and her husband Bill; Kathleen Bernavage; and a brother-in-law Fred Monsees and his wife Mary, along with his faithful best friend, his dog Joe. Special love to Jenn our Angel. He was predeceased by his sister Joan King.
