George E. Jones, Jr., died quietly at home in Savannah, Georgia, on August 12, 2010. His beloved wife of 64 years, Marie, was at his side. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, he attended Norwalk schools and graduated from Williston Academy in Easthampton, Massachusetts. He was a soldier in the U.S. Army during World War II and he was awarded five Battle Stars and spent more than two years overseas serving those on the front lines as a member of the 3612 Quartermaster Truck Company. Upon his return, he took over the family business, Star Laundry. He was a life long and avid tennis player and baseball enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Marie Sherwood Jones; a daughter, Kathleen Jones Thopsey of Trumbull; a son, George E. Jones III (Casey) and wife Debra, of Fairfield; grandchildren: Elizabeth S. Jones, Emily G. Jones, Abigail P. Jones, Ryan C. Thopsey, Brooks H. Thopsey, Melissa A. Thopsey and Graham O. Thopsey.
