George E. Hicks III passed away suddenly on Friday, December 18, 2015 at home in Willingboro, NJ at the age of 69. He was born in Rahway, NJ but lived most of his life in Burlington County. He served in the New Jersey National Guards in the mid 60’s. George or Shadow as he was known worked for 30 years for the US Steel Company around the blast furnace making steel. In addition while working at US Steel he also worked with the company to make sure that any of the steel process discharges into the River was not a hazard to the environment.
He then had the opportunity to work for Merck/Medco of Willingboro in their receiving/shipping department for 10 years. He was a participant and fan of legal drag racing. He enjoyed watching college football when Syracuse was playing because his grandson Rodney Williams played the position of Safety on the football team. Finally, he enjoyed spending time with his family and the grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents and niece; George E. Jr. and Victoria Hicks and Samatha Hicks., George is survived by his wife Roswitha (neeDolle), son Brian Hicks (Jessica) of Cherry Hill, daughter Christina Williams of Cherry Hill, and brother William Hicks (Regina) of Pompton Plains, NJ and 9 grandchildren; Rodney Williams, Orlando, Yamajeste, Jordon, Londle (DeJesus – Gonzalez), Derek, Madison, Ezekiel, and Adziel Hicks, and many friends. .
