George David Thomas, a longtime Beacon resident, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family; he was 74 years old. He was born Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, NY on July 21, 1948, son of the late Thomas N. & Eleanor (Lawrence) Thomas.
George worked as a fireman engineer for the New York City Board of Education, he was stationed at P.S. 72 in the Bronx, NY; he retired after 38-years of service.
On December 1, 1979 in New Rochelle, NY, he married BarbaraJean Shriver, who survives him at home.
George was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and shooting. He had an extensive collection of guns and knives. He loved making his own leather knife sheaths. George also loved motorcycles, and later in life enjoyed drawing.
Along with his beloved wife of 42-years of marriage, BarbaraJean Thomas, George is survived by his beloved dogs, Duncan & Heather and his cat, Mickey Mouse. He is also survived by his four brothers & three sisters: David Thomas, James Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Thomas Thomas, Eleanor ‘Elgie’ Murphy, Helen ‘Hank’ Silber and Leeanne Langer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Along with his parents, George was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Stanton and his brother Roy Thomas.
