George D. Langdon, 87, of Troy, Illinois, born November 1, 1918 in Ellisville, Missouri, died December 8, 2005 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Illinois.

Mr. Langdon moved to Troy in 1951 coming from Carbondale, Illinois. George loved and visited quite frequently Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Geroge was a former Cub Scout Master, he loved children and enjoyed helping them learn about life. Mr. Langdon was a Troy Alderman. At the request of the late Paul Simon, Mr. Langdon served on the Board of Directors of the Madison County Mental Health Association.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Granite City Army Depot Credit Union, and a member of the Troy American Legion Post #708.

Mr. Langdon was extremely interested in the Troy Tri-Township Park and enjoyed helping the Troy Lions Club on various projects pertaining to the park. He was also a member of the Jarvis Township Senior Citizens. George was very active in the choir at the Troy United Methodist Church.

Mr. Langdon is preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Estil (nee:Isbell) Langdon, his wife, Anna Mae (nee:Gebauer) Langdon, and his brother, Thomas Langdon.

Mr. Langdon is survived by three sons, Curtis C. Langdon of Troy, Illinois, John R. Langdon of Edwardsville, Illinois Bruce E. (Tami Garwood) Langdon of Mocksville, North Carolina, three sisters, Mrs. Virginia (Howard) Gordon of Washington, Missouri, Mrs. Ann Miller of Huntsville, Texas, Mrs. Jeanette Dunst of Ocean, New Jersey, five grandchildren, Zak, Michael and Ryan Langdon, Ann Langenstein and Khristen Mears, and six great-grandchildren, Brandon Rose, Dolan, Macklin and Gannon Langdon, Kyle and Alison Langenstein.And a faithful companion of 22 years Helene Kilpatrick of Troy, Illinois.
