George C. Koebel Jr., age 81 of Three Oaks, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. George was born March 21, 1933 to George C. Koebel Sr. and Elizabeth (Johnson) Koebel. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1951.George grew up on a farm, hauled milk for Producer’s Creamery, worked at Watkin’s IGA (which was a fun job for him), and was a State Farm Agent for more than 35 years.
He married the love of his life, Vivian Geminder on April 23, 1955.George was a passionate and loving man, who could light up a room with his great sense of humor, and it was always his goal to look on the “bright side”. He loved working in his lawn, watching sports (Go Blue), and woodworking and making gifts for loved ones. George was an active member of the community and the Three Oaks United Methodist Church. His family gave him great pleasure and he will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
George is survived by his wife Vivian; his children: Debra (Richard) Hildebrandt of Baroda; Vickie (Gregory) Kaiser of Stevensville; Joseph (Christina) Koebel of Boulder, CO., and Jon Koebel of Buchanan; his grandchildren: Evin & Adri Hildebrandt, Casey Kaiser, and Phoenix & Jonah Koebel. Also surviving are his siblings Linda Clark of Buchanan and Jerry (Nancy) Koebel of Three Oaks, his special great aunt Jean from Scottdale, and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings: Beverly Jean Gardner and William Koebel.
