George C. Cochard, 92, of Fortville, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010, at Scottsdale Osborn Hospital in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was born February 9, 1917, in Seneca County, Ohio to Charles Ross and Gertrude (Linhart) Cochard.

He retired from Eli Lilly and Company in 1980 after 30 years of service. Previously, he was a Methodist minister for 9 years while attending and after graduating from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. George was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church; Fortville Masonic Lodge #207; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis; Murat Shrine Club, Indianapolis; and the Order of Eastern Star, Fortville Chapter #149.

George is survived by two daughters, Georgene A. Burch and Marlene K. (Richard) Poe both of Fortville; three grandsons: Greg (Marta) Grinstead of Pendleton; Gary Grinstead; and Gerald (Sonja) Grinstead, both of Greenfield; four great-grandsons: Justin (Annie) Grinstead; Ryan (Summer) Grinstead; Nicholas Grinstead; and Josiah Grinstead, all of Greenfield; one great-granddaughter Alyse Grinstead of Pendleton; and one great-great grandson, Carter Grinstead of Greenfield. Also, surviving are two brothers, Rex (Ellen) Cochard of Fort Wayne and C.C. Cochard of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Jo (Longyear) Cochard whom he married on February 11, 1939, in Kendallville, Indiana, and one great-grandson, Zachary Grinstead. Also preceding him were three brothers, Willis, DeWitt, and Robert Cochard; and one sister, Donna Barker all from Kendallville, Indiana.
