 George Bernard Joseph Breen, Jr. was born in Philadelphia on April 7, 1926. He was educated at St. Joseph’s Elementary and Prep, and after serving in the U.S. Marines in WWII, graduated from St. Joseph’s University.

He joined the Glenn L. Martin Company in Baltimore and came to Denver in the early 60’s with the Viking project. Looking for wider sources of revenue, the company explored other business opportunities. George joined one of these efforts to develop and sell a computer based system for checking avionics on passenger aircrafts. This project resulted in Martron Systems, which among other things, reduced the checking time of black boxes from hours to minutes. He traveled the world and Martron Systems were eventually used by a majority of the world’s major airlines.

In 1992, George was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He retired as V.P. of Overseas Operations of Lockheed Martin. While Continually under treatment in the ensuing years, he played his favorite game of gold, and had time for tennis, skiing, and traveling for fun. Over the last couple of years, other illnesses compounded his suffering and he returned to his Maker on Saturday, April 16, 2011, finally succumbing to double pneumonia. Beloved husband and father, he was married for 45 years. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (“Margo”), and his children, Michael (Kim), and Katherine, and brother Richard (Jane), sister Virginia, and several nieces, and nephews. His ever courteous demeanor, loyalty, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor, made him welcome, wherever he went.
