George B. Merva, age 88, of Milford, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 peacefully in his home. He was born on August 14, 1928 in Bridgeport to the late John and Helen Feltovitch Merva. Before retiring, he was a sheet metal worker for Sikorsky Aircraft. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, he is survived by his loving wife, Frances Pluchino Merva, son Joseph Merva (Rachel) of Milford, stepchildren Lawrence Sheldon of Oxford, Vicki LaBonte of Milford, Lauri Anne Tobin of Naugatuck and Sally Anne Sheldon of North Carolina, and children from a previous marriage Raymond Merva (Claire) of Worchester, MA, James Merva (Janice) of California and Linda Czar (Joseph) of Milford, sister Terri Venheim of Florida, seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Bernard and Joseph Merva and sisters Celia Carpenter, Agnes and Mary Merva.
