George Allen Collins

George Allen Collins, 67, of Sheridan, Arkansas went to his heavenly home on September 8, 2014. He was born August 23, 1947, in Clovis, CA to the late Vernie George and Jeanette Godfrey Collins.

George graduated from Central High School, Helena, AR in 1965. Soon after graduation, he volunteered to serve his country by joining the U.S. Navy where he was stationed in Vietnam.After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, George met the love of his life, June Denise Bottorff. They were married on Valentine’s Day 1969.

George began his retail career as a teenager working at the Ben Franklin store in West Helena, AR. He would always bring his sisters a surprise with every paycheck. This early training led him to become a successful store manager and owner until his retirement.

His love for music started in high school when he played with the rock band, the “Gallows”. He continued to play music throughout his life.George had a sense of humor that is unmatched in this world. He always had a smile and snappy remark. Some sayings he enjoyed were:“Family comes first…and last.”“It’s the set of the sail, not the gale that determines the course.”“God gave me the opportunity to share my life with a great woman, may you be so blessed.”“Want to hear God laugh, make plans.”

His faith in Jesus Christ led him through this journey we call life.He is survived by his wife of 45 years, June Collins and his sons, Tracy Collins and wife Jennifer of Orlando, FL, and Michael Collins and wife Carrie of Sheridan, AR. Survivors include his beloved granddaughters, Lawson and Paisley; his sisters Mary and spouse Joe Berry, of Little Rock, AR; Peggy and spouse Maburn King of Sheridan, AR and Becky Collins of Little Rock, AR and a host of family and friends.
