ROE, George A. Roe, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to all who truly knew him, passed into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, October 20, 2013. He was born to Fred and Genette Ady on Feb. 26, 1939.
He lived most of his life in the Scotts/Climax area. In his early years, he was an avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman who truly loved the outdoors and lived life with zest to the fullest. On May 25, 1991, he married his true love, Karen Barkley, and together they enjoyed gardening, traveling, and just being together with family. His Bluegrass, sports, woodworking, and faithful, beloved pets were all important. His ready smile and kind, a gentle heart made him a friend to all.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Matthew Jody Barkley, Russell Rebecca Barkley, and Jeffrey Barkley; special grandsons, Wesley and Kyle Barkley and Ben Wilcox; daughters, Tracey Loveland, Catrina Todd Korteway, and Shannon Mike Hamilton; six grandchildren; brother, Howard Mary Ann Roe; sisters, Elizabeth De Merrill and Mary Wood; sister-in-law, Audrey Roe; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John.
