George A. Hornby, age 94 of Fairfield, beloved husband of 68 years of Ethel Carlson Hornby, passed away peacefully in his home Tuesday, January 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Joseph and Hattie Hornby, he had been a Fairfield resident since 1955. Mr. Hornby graduated from Warren Harding High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II as a Gunners Mate onboard PT 525 in the Pacific. PT 525 had the distinction of carrying Gen. Douglas MacArthur as he proudly returned to the Philippines toward the end of the War.
