Genevieve R. “Gene” Kucharski, 92, of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully at Healthwin Specialized Care Facility at 12:35 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014. She had suffered from declining health in recent years.
She was born on October 7, 1921 to the late Anthony and Lottie (Celichowski) Strozewski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents; one brother, Frank Strozewski also preceded her in death.
Genevieve graduated from South Bend Catholic High School. She and her husband were the former owners of Joe’s Tavern on the city’s west side.
As Genevieve Strozewski, she married Joseph J. Kucharski in South Bend, IN, who passed away on March 3, 1986.
Genevieve is survived by her son, Joseph (Teresa) Kucharski; grandchildren, Angela (Keith) Micinski and Brandon (Shannon) Kucharski; a brother, Richard Strozewski of Coldwater, MI; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She was a member of St. Monica Parish in Mishawaka, IN; Z.B. Falcons Nest #85; and a former member of Bowlers Country Club.
Genevieve was a wonderful mother and grandmother “Busia”. Even in her declining years, she continued to be a model of kindness, grace and courage. She will be greatly missed.
