Genevieve H. Netz, 96, a resident of Silver City, New Mexico and formerly of rural Blue River, Wisconsin, died Saturday April 15 after a short illness.
Genevieve was born in Winchester, WI on January 6, 1921 to Weggo and Edna (Maurer) Hansen. On December 11, 1943 she married Eldon C. Netz. After World War II they farmed together near Blue River, WI. She touched many lives during her 62 year nursing career working in hospitals, clinics, public and home health services, and school nursing. Genevieve and Eldon moved to Silver City, NM in 1987. Genevieve continued to work as a home health nurse for 15 more years.
Her greatest joys in life were sharing times dancing with her husband to big band era music, traveling, fishing (being known to catch “the big ones”), camping, and playing cards and cribbage with family and friends. She relaxed while tending her garden and flowers; always willing to share abundance with others. Quilting and stained glass projects always kept her hands busy. She was very proud of all her family and enjoyed following activities in support of all her children and grandchildren.
Genevieve is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Netz and wife Peggy of Pinos Altos, NM and Duane Netz of Silver City, NM; three daughters, Jane Seavers and husband Ray of Pinos Altos, NM; Lois Martin and husband Myron of Richland Center, WI; Kay Wright and husband Tom of Santa Rosa, CA; eight grandchildren, Joelle Fuller and husband Brian of Silver City, NM; Michael Martin of Greenleaf, WI; Jesse Seavers and wife Angela of Nederland, CO; Damien Wright of Elk Grove, CA; Eric Martin and wife Nichol of Iron River; WI, Aaron Seavers of Silver City, NM; Sean Wright of Elk Grove, CA; and Crystal Netz-Arenivar and husband Carlos of Silver City, NM; four great-grand children Max and Ciel Seavers, Kody and Dillon Martin; also, her sister Elizabeth Anderson, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006, her parents, brother Ernest Hansen, sisters Doris Rector and Wilma Meyers.
