Genevieve Mary (Porter) Poblano, whose adopted name is Joyce Critt, “Miskogiizhigookwe” which means “Those Red Clouds When the Sun is Setting”, age 85, of Mahnomen, Minnesota and the White Earth Band of Ojibwe journeyed to the spirit world on Friday, March 13th, 2020 from the Mahnomen Health Center in Mahnomen, MN. She was born in Onigum, MN on December 13th, 1934 to Florence Porter and Frank Molash.
Genevieve was a very happy and social woman who enjoyed being around other people as often as she could. She was an amazing teacher of arts and crafting, teaching sweet grass and birch bark basket making and beading.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Judy Northbird, Sandy Hernandez, Lenny Usher, Gordy Usher, Roxann Pinal-Trujillo and Tammy Usher; some of her 14 brothers and sisters, five generations of grandchildren, too many nieces and nephews to list and other relatives.
Family that she is reunited with are her children, Kathy Hoagland, Edward LoneEagle, Wilma Wind, Linda Usher and Albert Usher; some of her siblings and several more relatives.
