Genevieve J. Garrity, 90, of New Britain, died February 7, 2016 at Southington Care Center. She was born in Hamden, CT on March 22, 1925, daughter of the late John H. Garrity and Evelyn (Warner) Garrity.
She was raised in Hamden and New Haven and had formerly lived in Southington and Plainville before moving to New Britain. She was employed at MRC-TRW of Plainville for forty one years and retired in 1984. She was a member of UHW Local 197 Retirees Union and the New Britain Seniors.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lois (Helm) Garrity, of Southington; two nieces, Linda Havenport, of Cheyenne, WY and Kathleen Garrity, of Plantsville; two nephews, Michael Garrity, of Bristol and Richard Garrity, of Southington; eight grandnieces and nephews; and nine great, great nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind many cousins. Genevieve was predeceased by her sister Christina Garrity; her brother James Garrity; two nieces, Sharon and Laura Garrity; and her longtime companion, John Chimielewski.
