Geneva “Jenny” Blum Zimmer, 80, of Casey, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.
Geneva Blum Zimmer was born on April 28, 1926 in Panama, Iowa, the daughter of Margaret and Joseph Blum. After graduation from St. Mary’s Catholic High School, she was married to Art Zimmer on May 31, 1945. They made their home in Walnut until moving to Casey in 1952.
She worked several years at Look magazine in Des Moines until its closing. In 1974, she and her husband opened their restaurant, Jenny and Art’s and continued until it was destroyed by fire. Since that time she enjoyed her time at home with her husband of 60 years.
She is survived by her husband, Art of Casey, Iowa; four daughters and three sons, Jeanne McPherson and her husband, Kerry of Highland Ranch, Colorado, Robert Zimmer and his wife, Jann of Casey, Iowa, Nancy Chesnut and her husband, Kevin of Adair, Iowa, Linda Billheimer and her husband, Tom of Casey, Iowa, Deb Downing and her husband, Kent of Anita, Iowa, Bill Zimmer and his wife, Linda of Mesa, Arizona and Jim Zimmer of Casey, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Diane Zimmer of Casey, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and son John in 2004.
