Geneva E. (Jenny) Nine
Geneva W. (Jenny) Nine, 83, of Joppa, MD, formerly of Rowlesburg, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, MD.
She was born June 16, 1934, in Rowlesburg, Red Rock Community, the oldest child of Elmer Ray and Beryl Plum Riggs.
Geneva was a graduate of Rowlesburg High School. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She was a gifted and versatile seamstress who often created her own patterns and made everything from majorette uniforms to pajamas. She worked for London Fog and Misty Harbor raincoats and sewed for Conelli Fashions, a maker of designer gowns. Geneva played guitar, sang and drew cartoons to entertain her children. She liked to go to Baltimore Orioles baseball games, liked live music and theater shows and dining out with her family. She made great potato salad and wonderful buckwheat cakes. She especially enjoyed being with children.
Geneva is survived by her children, Susan and husband, Wayne of Terra Alta, Bonnie Valentine of Fort Myers, FL, Robert E. Nine and wife, Gloria of Baldwin, MD and Paul Nine and wife, Brenda of Joppa, Md, with whom she made her home; her brothers, Bill Riggs of Mt. Lake, MD, Keith Riggs of Wiley Ford, Paul Riggs of Rowlesburg and Jerry Riggs of St. Mary’s; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Nine, her fraternal twin, Jean Gary and a brother, Robert Riggs.
