Geneva Rogers Gibbs, age 95, a resident of Mt. Sterling, KY passed away peacefully at her home on August 30, 2021, with family members present.
Neva was born on October 30, 1925, in Jeffersonville, KY to Charles and Isora Wills Rogers. She was the wife of the late Vernon Gibbs, who lovingly called her his valentine during their 76 years of marriage.
She is survived by her two daughters: Connie (Jim) McCarty and Brenda (Lonnie) Moore, both of Mt. Sterling. She was Nene to 5 grandchildren: Jim (Tammy) McCarty, Jimmy (Shelly) Moore, Joni (Phillip) Branham, all of Mt. Sterling, Tammy (Tony) McKinney, Bruce (Tracie) McCarty of Morehead.
She is also survived by one brother: Bill Rogers (widower of Frankie); 3 sisters: Beulah Manley (widow of David “Cornbread”), Jean Dale (widow of Bobby), and Lela (Bill) Johnson; one sister-in-law: Phyllis (Don) Read; 11 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Neva was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed giving individualized gifts to family and friends. Everyday life was special as she thoughtfully showered others with attention and love.
Neva and Vernon lived in several countries and enjoyed traveling at home and abroad. They were the ideal couple. They always exhibited the values of a loving Christian home and served as mentors to family, friends, and acquaintances. Everyone felt accepted, loved, and encouraged in the Gibbs home.
The family is rejoicing knowing that the “ideal couple” is with the Lord—once again united.
