Mrs. Geneva O’Leary Weathers, age 84 died at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC on Friday, August 12, 2005
She attended the Mecklenburg Public Schools and she received her nursing training at L. Richardson Hospital where she was certified as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at Central Carolina Convalescent Center during the polio epidemic in 1946. She also worked at St. James Nursing Center, Carolina Nursing Center and Evergreens Nursing Center. She was avid bowler and she collected 65 trophies as she played in tournaments in Miami, Florida, Charleston, SC and New Orleans, LA
Geneva was a member of United Institutitional Baptist Church for 57 years, where she served as a Deaconess, a member of the Hour of Power Choir, The Eveready Chorus, The Pastor’s Aide Club and the Nurse’s Club
She leaves with pleasant memories; three children, Mary Elizabeth LeGette (Neal), Greensboro, NC, Rev. Eddie L. Weathers, (Annie), Jamestown, NC and Virginia G. Griffin, Greensboro, NC; ten grandchildren, Tanya L.
