Geneva May Selby, 86, of Taneytown, MD died Monday, January 20, 2014 at Emeritus Assisted Living in Westminster, MD following a brief illness. Born January 18, 1928 at the family’s farm near Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Mary Kelly Ohler and the wife of the late Sterling Selby, to whom she was married for 62 years.
Geneva dedicated her life to her family, especially her son, Danny, who was a special needs child. She was raised a farm girl and spoke fondly of the farm life. She married Sterling in 1947. They had two sons while living in Taneytown then moved to Westminster and had a third son in 1956. In 1978, they returned to Taneytown where they lived until moving into assisted living in 2009. She worked at the Taneytown Rubber factory, Butte Knit in Westminster and volunteered a lot of her time to The ARC of Carroll County.
Surviving are sons David Selby and wife Sally of Silver Spring, MD, and Dennis Selby and wife Barb of Houston, TX; grandchildren, John and Kate, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Sterling, her sister Evelyn, her brother Kenneth, her son Danny and her grandson Bryan.
