Geneva May Dudeck-Slater, 99, of Heston, Indiana died peacefully at her home Monday, November 10, 2014.
Geneva was born May 20, 1915 in Three Oaks Township, Michigan to Dennis F. and Hattie I. (Seifert) Lewis. She graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1933 and married Edward “Duffy” Dudeck on December 28, 1935 in Three Oaks.
Geneva was a woman who liked to have fun. Many people still remember her from Heston Grocery and Duffy’s Tavern on 1000 North, now known as Heston Supper Club, which she and Duffy owned and operated. She enjoyed dancing and Polish Polka music. Duffy preceded her in death on December 8, 1985.
On August 15, 1990 she married Lyle Slater, he preceded her in death on March 8, 1995. Geneva was a member of the The Galena East Home Extension Club; Three Oaks Rebekah Lodge 309; the Moose Lodge 980 of Michigan City; TOPS; VFW Post 9423, Rolling Prairie, Indiana; the Randall Couchman American Legion Post 204 Auxiliary, Three Oaks. She served many positions over the years in these service clubs, including Patriarch, Militant, and Past President. Geneva was a member of the Lambs Chapel United Methodist Church.She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Janice & Scott Lewis, Denise & Gregg Pyle, Debra Everly, Doug Lewis, Donna & Jim Trapp, and DeeAnn & Tom Hogan; 17 great nieces & nephews; 10 great great nieces & nephews; and 3 great great great nieces & nephew.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lee, Lloyd and Donald Lewis and by 6 nieces and nephews.
