Gene passed away on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Countryside Home in Madison.
Gene was born on July 6, 1929 in Creston, Nebraska to parents Herman and Ida (Meyer) Settje.
He graduated from high school in Creston, NE in 1947. Then, Gene served in the U.S. Navy from July 1948 to July 1952. In 1955, he graduated from Arizona State in Tempe with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Gene was a long term employee with over 40 years at Dale Electronics.
Prior to being a resident at Countryside Home, Gene lived on Big Stone Lake in Wilmot, SD.
He loved his lake home where he could enjoy fishing and having friends up to fish. Gene enjoyed being around his two children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter Shari Adair of Yankton, SD, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one more expected, brothers Stanley of Leigh, NE and Herman, Jr. of Creston, NE.
Gene was preceded in death by his son Steve Settje, parents Herman and Ida (Meyer) Settje, brothers Wilbur, Clarence, and Virgil Settje, sisters Erma Fenhouse and Donna Schultz.
