Gene R. Moore, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on February 19, 2015 at the Community North Hospital.

He was born on July 22, 1926 in Greensburg, Indiana and resided most of his life in Anderson. Gene graduated from Anderson High School. He then served his country in the Navy during WWII, and upon his return he attended Anderson College. He retired as a mail carrier for the US Post Office in 1982 after 38 years of service. After his retirement, he worked as circulation manager for Anderson Newspapers, and also served as a loan officer with the Postal Credit Union.

He was a member of the Lions Club in Anderson, very active in East Lynn Christian Church where he served many leadership roles, was a scorekeeper/umpire with the Anderson Sunday School Athletic Association and American Legion Baseball, and was active in the Fairview Park Little League. Later in life, Gene volunteered at Community North Hospital.

Gene is survived by his loving spouse, Nola Moore, with whom he celebrated their 66th anniversary in January; children, Neal (Kathi) Moore of Indianapolis, Jeffrey Moore of Anderson, and Debra Pradon of Shelbyville, Mich.; grandchildren, Brian Moore, Todd Moore, Alison (Alan) Bruns, Jon Moore, Alex Moore, and several nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen (Sproessig) Moore; sisters, Corlene Cooper and Nadean Abel, and brother, Nolan Moore.
