Morris Eugene “Gene” Pike, 85, of Etna, WY, formerly of Bloomington, IL, passed away September 15, 2021 at his residence with his wife and dog by his side.
Gene was born July 8, 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of John Morris and Eleanor Ethel (Clingingsmith) Pike. He married Grace Ellen (Miller) on April 1, 1980 in Pekin, IL.
Gene was a veteran of The United States Marine Corps.
Gene was a salesman at heart. He began his sales career with Beechnut Lifesaver, and Rustcraft Greeting Cards. He then sought a career with Caterpillar Tractor Company, holding positions as Public Relations Representative, Yard Storage Supervisor, Emergency Shipping Supervisor, Order Analyst, and Quotation Analyst.
Gene was a car enthusiast and loved to restore cars. His favorite project was the restoration of his 1971 Buick Riviera, which he had entered into many auto shows resulting in many awards. He also loved collecting diecast automobiles.
Surviving are his wife, Grace and two sons, Gary Pike of Sarasota, FL, Greg Pike (Deneil) of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Matt Pike (Stefanie) of Chicago, IL, Robert Pike of Chatanooga, TN, and Jessica Pike (Mitch) of Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his Father, John Pike; mother, Eleanor Knight, and his “Dad”, Lester Knight. He was also survived by many friends.
His family would like to give special thanks to the many friends who helped support Gene and Grace during his decline of health and many thanks to all of the healthcare professionals who worked with Gene over the years.
