Gene Charles Sloan, 73, of Canon City, Colorado, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 28th, 2013 in his home surrounded by his wife and children. Gene was born July 8, 1940 in Uniontown, Kansas to Henry O. and Mona (Barrett) Sloan. He graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1958 and attended Junior College for two years. He went to work for AT&T in 1961 before being called to serve his country. He served two years in the United States Army as a PFC Medic in Germany from 1963-1965. On July 20, 1968 he married Linda Marie Hicks in Freemont, Nebraska. Linda and Gene moved to Golden, Colorado shortly after getting married, where they built a house and raised their family.
