Gene Carmack, 71, passed away Saturday at his residence. He was the son of the late Oscar and Uleen Carmack. Gene was a United States Air Force veteran serving as a navigator/flight engineer for 20 years. He was a member of the Wayne County Coin Club, Wayne County Car Club, Southeastern Nissan Club. After retiring from the Air Force he helped in the Retiree’s Activity Center, The Food Bank, and with Toys for Tots.
Gene is survived by a brother, William Carmack of Mt. Holly, NC; a sister, Rhonda Weeks and husband, Norman of Anthony, FL; and friend, Peggy Sue Knoll of Goldsboro.
A friend, Robin Aumann preceded Gene in death.
