Gene C. Janssen, 67, of Freeport passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
Born May 26, 1946 in Freeport, he was the son of Oltman Joseph and Lydia (Sass) Janssen. On February 14, 1976 he and Darlene (Viel) Kirby were united in marriage. For over 40 years Gene was a truck driver. He had a passion for drag racing and cars.
He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Darlene of Freeport, son Erik (Kristen Zellweger) Janssen of Freeport; daughter Stacy (Jason) Klenz of Rockford, granddaughter Katelyn Janssen of Freeport, grandson Brayden Klenz of Rockford; sister Janet Lower of Pearl City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
