Mr. Gene Burnett, age 91, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his residence peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Burnett is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary E. Burnett; his two daughters, Donna (Tommy) Beckham and Mary Lynn Bullock, both of Manchester, GA; his step son, Hollis (Lil) Rogers of LaGrange, GA; his step daughter-in-law, Alice Faye Rogers; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son; Gary Paul Burnett; and two step sons, Wayne Rogers and Jimmy Rogers.
Mr. Burnett was born on February 2, 1926 in Bessemer, AL. He was a member of Plant City Baptist Church. He loved his church, the Lord, listening to gospel music, and playing the guitar and organ. He also enjoyed carpentry, home repair, and crafting furniture. Mr. Burnett served in the US Navy for seven years, spending most of his time on the USS Scroggins. He retired from Hester Tag and Label after many years of service. After his retirement he went on to cook in the Bakery in WalMart, and drove cars for Langdale Motor Company.
