Mallard..Gaylen E. Grethen, 65 of Mallard died February 27, 2016, at his home in Mallard, IA. Gaylen Eugene Grethen the son of Ralph and Rosalinda ( Schuller) Grethen was born July 19. 1950 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He received his education at the Mallard Catholic and public schools, as well as the University of South Dakota and Mankato State. He was hired by the IRS as a Revenue Agent in Chicago, Illinois, where he received his income tax expertise. Gaylen was united in marriage with Jann Henderson in 1970 and to this union was born children Melinda and Elia. The couple spent their years at the home farm where Gaylen farmed and ran Grethen Tax and Accounting since 1980. Survivors include his wife Jann of Mallard, IA, children, Melinda (Marcello) Roman and their daughter Paloma, and son Elia(Lindsay) Grethen, a sister Shirley (Fred) Leuer as well as many nieces and nephews.
