Gary LeRoy Warner, 72, of Great Falls, died of asbestosis and heart disease Wednesday, November 7, 2012, surrounded by his family at his home.
Gary was born April 28, 1940 in Great Falls, MT to Raymond and Sylvia (Seidl) Warner. Gary received his schooling in Great Falls, graduating from Great Falls High in 1959. He was employed by the Anaconda Company as a pipefitter for 21 years, until their closing. He later went to work as an independent carpet layer until he retired. Gary was a man of many talents, from building homes to rebuilding salvage vehicles for a hobby. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and he never had to be asked, he just did it. He was an avid garage saler and a great bargain hunter! He also loved to hunt and fish.
On May 26, 1961 he married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Wilson, and renewed their vows again on June 5, 1999; and from their union came two wonderful sons, whom he loved and adored, Chris and Rick. Gary & Mary lived in Great Falls until 1972. They purchased land at Hardy Creek where they built their home and swimming pool. He was a great planner and was able to retire at the age of 46 (but he never really stopped working). They wintered in Yuma, AZ for 20 years until his health brought him back home. While in Yuma, he loved to help the elderly ladies.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary, sons, Gary Christopher (Dori) and Richard Curtiss (Rosie), both of Great Falls, Grandsons, Cory and Chris Kravik, of Great Falls, Ashley Short of Billings and three great grandchildren, Marlee, Austin and Kayden. He is also survived by sisters, Raylene, “Babe” (Jon) Rein, Sue (Dave) Swingley and brother Terry Warner, all of Great Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was loved and will greatly be missed by all that knew him.
