Gary Oscar Pitman, 69, of Pendleton, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born on February 23, 1947, in Liberty, Kentucky, to Oscar and Nannie Pitman, who preceded him in death. He attended Salem High School, graduating in 1965. At Purdue University, he attained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Following college, he served in the US Army Reserves and began his career at General Motors, where he stayed until retirement. Gary married Peggy Diane Page; she preceded him in death. Gary remained close to the Page family in all the years after. In his last years, Gary loved his family, friends, and spending time in his garden. His kindness, wit, and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Gary leaves behind to cherish his memory: wife, Alicia Pitman; children, Alexander Pitman and Sarah Pitman (Wunji); sisters, Lorene Roberts, Peggy Martin, and Bonnie Sage; and a granddaughter, Ellen Lau.
