Gary D. Newton, 65, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 30, 2011. He was born on August 13, 1945, to Reece and Geneva Newton. He retired in March 2009 from a career at Indiana University. He was a lifetime member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. He loved to play the guitar and sing with various country/gospel groups.

He was a volunteer at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital. He loved a garage sales, and flea markets, and was an avid antique toy collector. He was the owner of Newton’s Collectible Toys. He enjoyed cooking, and having family gatherings. He never tired of watching “Andy Griffith” or “Archie Bunker” reruns. He touched so many lives with his courage, uplifting spirit, sense of humor and wit.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Twanette (Carmichael) Newton of Bloomington; his son Tony Newton (Missy) of Bloomington; and daughter Tana Newton of Ohio; Five grandchildren Kaila Johnson (Matt), Kasey Johns (Bill), Ross Newton, John Trebec, and Jackson Trebec, and two great- grandchildren: Lilly and Max. (All were his pride and joy); His mother Geneva Weddle of Ellettsville and sister, Carol Helms (Paul) and as well many nephews and nieces. Also his Mother-in-law, Gladys Carmichael, Sister-in-law, Connie Galloway (Mike), Brother-in-law Lee Carmichael (Belinda) He was preceded in death by his father Reece Newton, stepfather Robert Weddle and two brothers Charles and Ronald Newton
