Rev. Gary Mark Lawson, 83, of Meridianville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 22. He was a 1957 graduate of Glencoe High School, a veteran of the United States Army, and had retired from the United States Postal Service. He was also a Master Mason and member of Helion Lodge #1 for over 60 years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Huntsville Chapter #537. He was also an avid Alabama football fan.
Gary faithfully served his Lord for over 50 years as a bi-vocational pastor. He had the ability to talk to anyone, never meeting a stranger, and he never ended a conversation without praying. He was a passionate witness for Jesus Christ and was always willing and ready to share his faith. In recent years, he was a faithful member of Woodland Hill Baptist Church.
In 2014, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Sizemore Lawson. He is also preceded in death by his parents, William Grover & Vera Bloodworth Lawson, and by his three sisters, Betty Lawson Breeden, Sybil Lawson Kirby, and UnaRee Lawson Chapman. He is also preceded in death by his brother, William Grover Lawson Jr.
Surviving loved ones include his brother, Gordon (Betty) Lawson; His special sister-in-law, Gerry (Joel) Nitz; His closest, devoted friend who loved and cared for him for the last years of his life, Gerri Bains. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
